ARVADA, Colo., December 9, 2010 – The Arvada Economic Development Association (AEDA) is welcoming two new members to its board of directors which is comprised of business leaders from Arvada's various market sectors.
Frederick A. Baker will serve as AEDA's real estate representative. He is vice president of development for United Properties in Colorado, and manager of Ojala & Company, a division of United Properties. In his role for United Properties, Baker is responsible for the identification, acquisition, entitlement, development and disposition of office and industrial park projects. He oversees the brokerage, entitlement and development activities for Ojala & Company. He is a board member for the Jefferson Economic Council and chairman of its real estate committee. Additionally, he is board member on several business park associations and is president of the West Metro District.
Maro Dimmer will serve as AEDA's retail representative. She and her husband own Rheinlander Bakery, a successful small business in Olde Town Arvada. As a community volunteer, Dimmer was instrumental in forming the Historic Olde Town Arvada (HOTA) organization, which promotes business in Arvada's Olde Town district. She also assisted AEDA in creating its "Invest in Arvada" campaign that encourages residents to shop locally. In addition, Dimmer has served on the Arvada Cultural Plan steering committee, the RTD Gold Line advisory committee, the City of Arvada's design review committee to ensure compliance with Olde Town's historical design, the Arvada Festivals Commission, and is currently serving on HOTA's parking committee.
Baker is replacing outgoing real estate representative Bruce Nickerson from Nickerson Company, who served almost 20 years with AEDA, while Dimmer is replacing outgoing retail representative Fred Jacobsen of Sportline, Inc. who served with AEDA for about eight years.
"AEDA's board consists of representatives from all of Arvada's key market segments. We will miss Fred Jacobsen and Bruce Nickerson, as well as the vast knowledge and experience they have brought to the board for so many years," said Hazel Hartbarger, director of AEDA. She added, “We know, however, that Fred Baker and Maro Dimmer will bring their own passion, commitment, and wealth of real estate and retail experience to the AEDA board during their respective terms. We are pleased to welcome them as valued contributors to the AEDA's board of directors."
