Big business uses telephone cold-calling because it is the quickest way to identify, qualify and begin to build relationships with prospective new clients. The problems for micro and small business owners are threefold: most hate making these calls, often are called away for “more important” tasks or simply can’t afford the huge set-up fees and long-term contracts required by traditional telemarketing companies.

CEF borrower, Jump Start Revenue, Inc., has created a solution to this dilemma. They will put sales professionals on the telephone for you for as little as four hours, no future commitment, no set-up fees, no kidding! They will help you identify your target market, generate a leads list, design a campaign and make the initial qualifying contacts before reporting information gathered from every call. The sales team will keep your lean sales force in front of high-probability buyers closing new business whether you need an on-going sales effort or simply to follow up leads from a recent trade show.

Donna Seng Plute, owner of Jump Start Revenue, has over twenty-five years of successful sales and business development experience. She has designed, implemented and managed creative sales programs resulting in record sales and gross margin performance for start-up businesses as well as large corporations. As a trainer for the nationally recognized FastTrac™ Entrepreneurial Program she worked with individuals writing their feasibility studies in anticipation of launching a new business. “Inevitably these ‘future entrepreneurs’ brought a great idea and strong technical skill to their enterprise but most if not all had absolutely no experience selling. Cold-calling made them weak in the knees. I knew I could do something to contribute to their success long-term while helping them enjoy owning their own businesses”, she observed.

Jump Start Revenue recruits the sales expertise for their clients’ needs. They do not rely on college students reading prepared scripts. Their presentation of their clients’ services come from a researched and prepared understanding of their business and the needs their product or service meet in the marketplace. All Jump Start Revenue clients can count on being represented by knowledgeable, professional and friendly sales staff.

Ms. Plute commented, “Without the confidence, expertise and on-going support of the CEF team our business may well have stalled out four years ago.  Creating this level of flexibility for this target market has presented its’ challenges. We needed a small amount of capital to gain exposure, expand our team and create new services. Lewis Hagler and Angela Valdez made the entire loan process easy and stress-free. The business advisory services are proving to be incredibly valuable. We sincerely appreciate CEF’s commitment not only to our small business but to all the small business owners we serve.”

Colorado Enterprise Fund (CEF) is a nonprofit community development financial institution providing financing and support for small businesses throughout the State of Colorado. We foster economic opportunity and create jobs by financing small businesses that are starting and growing. Since 1990, CEF's loan fund has provided over 900 loans totaling over $19 million to Colorado businesses that are not able to obtain adequate bank financing. Our loan sizes range from $1,000 to $200,000, enabling us to help our borrowers as they grow. We also support them with capacity-building business counseling and management consulting to ensure business success. CEF has been financing Colorado small businesses since 1976. Our funding comes from diverse public and private sources, including federal agencies, the State of Colorado, various municipalities, banks, foundations and other nonprofit investors. We were certified by the U.S. Department of Treasury as a Community Development Financial Institution in 1996 and have been an SBA Microloan Intermediary since 1992.
