Ryan Stachelski Appointed as City of Arvada Economic Development Manager

The City and AEDA are pleased to announce the hiring of Ryan Stachelski as AEDA's new Economic Development Manager.

ARVADA, Colo., February 21, 2011 – The City of Arvada and the Arvada Economic Development Association (AEDA) are pleased to announce the hiring of Ryan Stachelski as AEDA's new economic development manager to replace Lila Nigh, who is retiring.

Ryan Stachelski previously served as economic development manager for the City of Northglenn and as economic development specialist for the City of Wheat Ridge. He has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Economics from George Mason University and a Master of Science Degree in Economics with a concentration on Applied Community and Economic Development from Illinois State University. He represented Wheat Ridge on the Jefferson County Business Resource Center board of directors as secretary and treasurer and as ex-officio board member for the Jefferson Economic Council.

"AEDA has an impeccable reputation for excellence," said Ryan Stachelski. "I'm excited to join the team and help the organization continue to enhance its legacy in the City of Arvada."

Stachelski replaces Lila Nigh, who is retiring on March 31, 2011 after 20 years of service to the City of Arvada. Nigh started her career with the city in the community development department. She joined AEDA in 1999 as economic development specialist, and progressed to become the deputy director. Nigh is responsible for many AEDA successes, including the organization’s award-winning business retention program. Nigh also received an Economic Developers Council of Colorado award for her professionalism and achievements. She is known for building strong partnerships with other city departments and external organizations, and remains active in the Sunrise Rotary Club in Arvada.

"Lila has accomplished so much for AEDA. I am going to miss her intuitiveness about people and projects," said Hazel Hartbarger, director for AEDA. "We are fortunate that Ryan will join our team as her replacement. He brings a strong passion for economic development. When combined with the exceptional relationships he has already formed with other community organizations critical to our success, we know he will easily step into Lila's role with our organization. We are looking forward to his vision and contributions for AEDA as we work to further advance the City of Arvada's business community."
