After more than three years of in-depth alternatives screening, detailed impacts analysis and extensive community outreach, the RTD FasTracks Gold Line project has been approved by the Federal Transit Administration (FTA). The FTA's approval marks the end of the Gold Line Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) process. RTD is currently working with the FTA to obtain permission to begin final design and construction. Some specifics regarding project are highlighted below:
Light Rail: FasTracks is the Regional Transportation
District’s $6.7 billion, 12-year comprehensive plan for the design and
construction of high quality transit services and facilities in Metro
Denver. When completed, FasTracks will
add 122 miles of new light rail and transit service, over 21,000 new parking
spaces at rail and transit service in all areas. In addition to the 37 transit stations in
operation, FasTracks will add 57 new stations through the region and three are
in selected areas of
